The water inlet valve controls the flow of water entering a Samsung washing machine during wash cycles. When the valve becomes faulty, the machine may fail to fill properly, fill too slowly, or continue filling uncontrollably. Testing the inlet valve with a multimeter is one of the most reliable ways to determine whether the valve is functioning correctly.
Before beginning the testing process, safety precautions are essential. The washing machine should always be unplugged from the electrical outlet, and the water supply should be turned off completely. This prevents electrical shock and water leakage during inspection.
The inlet valve is usually located at the back of the washing machine where the water hoses connect to the appliance. After moving the washer carefully away from the wall, the water hoses can be disconnected using pliers if necessary.
Once the hoses are removed, the valve assembly becomes visible. Many inlet valves contain small filter screens that trap dirt and mineral deposits from the water supply. These filters should first be inspected and cleaned because clogged filters can restrict water flow even when the valve itself is functioning properly.
To test the valve electrically, the electrical connectors attached to the valve solenoids must be disconnected carefully. A multimeter should then be set to the resistance or continuity setting. The multimeter probes are placed against the terminals of the valve solenoid.
